Rights and Obligations of Members
1. Members are entitled to participate in all functions and activities
organised by the Union and have the right to utilise all facility
service provided by the Union.
2. Members shall be committed to
support the aims and objectives of the Union as stated in Article 3 of
this constitution and to abstain from any action detrimental to the
reputation of the Union.
3. Only ordinary members shall have the right to exercise the passive and active voting rights.
4. Every member shall pay membership dues which shall be determined by the Union at the Annual General Meeting.
Annual Dues
Registered members of the Union are committed to pay annual Dues of €
50, 00 as determined by the AGM of May 2006. Members are also allowed to
pay their dues in instalments.
Pupils, Students and unemployed
may be exempted from the payment of dues. They shall work non –
remunerable for the Union prior to the approval of the executive
committee. They shall have the right to enjoy Article 6 of the
constitution. Paid up members of the union shall pay half entrance fees
to Union’s events and functions that requires gate fees.
The Annual Dues caters for:
- Union’s administration and the executing of policies
- Refreshments at General meeting
- Welfare matters (Article 6)
Welfare of Union Members
1. The Union shall take practical steps to ensure the welfare of its members. In particular, the Union shall show solidarity with every member by making such donations or providing such help as may be considered reasonable and appropriate by the membership on the following occasions-
(a) death of a member or spouse or child or parents;
(b) ill - health and /or incapacitation of member or spouse or child;
(c) marriage of a member;
(d) naming or christening of a child of a member;
(e) proven genuine difficulties arising out of legitimate circumstances;
2. A member shall benefit from these donations, etc. only if he/she is
in good financial standing with the Union (payment of dues).
3. The Union shall organise social and/or cultural activities that may
be considered reasonable for the normal entertainment and enjoyment of
its members and their invited guests.
4. The Union tackles
issues relating to the shabby treatment members go through at the hands
of authorities. Assist members in their affairs with the AMS, getting
admission to study in schools and other high institutions and provided
extra help for members’ children in areas of their studies as well as
home visitations to bereaved families.
